$1.4 M Settlement
A young man with a diagnosis of Marfan Syndrome went to a hospital in central Pennsylvania with chest pain and breathing difficulties.
Marfan Syndrome can lead to a range of health issues, including elongated bones, heart defects, and vision problems.
In its most severe form, it can cause an aortic aneurysm—a life-threatening condition where the aorta, the body’s main artery, weakens and bulges.
A CT scan confirmed that this young man was facing this condition, with a possible aortic aneurysm, which requires immediate surgical intervention to treat.
But, the hospital staff sent him home instead of admitting him for surgery.
Three days later, he died.
The family came to us to take action against this gross negligence.
We secured expert testimony from medical professionals, and established that the hospital’s breach of care directly contributed to the patient’s death.
Their delay in acting on the critical diagnosis was a fatal error that cost this young man his life.
The case was settled for $1.4 million.
If you or someone you know has suffered due to a misdiagnosis or failure to diagnose a serious medical condition, it’s time to take a stand.
